NE_67_SS-NE_112209_030The HCV program places the choice of housing in the hands of the individual family.  To assist families with their search, CHA provides a list of available units in the Chicagoland area.

Please note: You are responsible for researching owners and units to avoid fraud and make sure units meet your individual requirements. Listings are offered for your convenience only; units and owners have not been screened by CHA and do not have CHA’s endorsement. After you find a unit and submit the required paperwork, all owners and their units are subject to the CHA screening and approval process per our normal procedures.  Click here for tips on how to avoid scams and fraud.  Click here to view the City of Chicago’s list of problem building owners. Opportunity Area

CHA seeks to expand housing choice outside areas of poverty or minority concentration.  CHA defines these areas as an Opportunity Area, which is a census tract with less than 20% of its individuals with income below the poverty level and a less than 5% concentration of subsidized housing. Some census tracts with low poverty, moderate subsidized housing, and improving community economic characteristics are also designated as Opportunity Areas.
